The Cyprus Women’s National Team closed out its UEFA Nations League campaign with a significant 2-1 away win against Georgia at the Mikheil Meskhi II Stadium in Tbilisi.
In the final matchday of League C Group 2, Cyprus secured second place in the standings, capping off a promising run that now leads to the October play-offs with promotion to League B still within reach.
Following the disappointment in Malta, Cyprus responded with determination—a “second chance,” that ended with a well-earned victory and renewed momentum.
With two wins, two draws, and two defeats across the six-match campaign, Cyprus now enters the UEFA Nations League play-offs, where it will face one of the two best third-placed teams from League B: either Albania or Turkey. The draw is scheduled to take place this Friday, with matches to be played between October 22 and 28, 2025.
The play-off winners will either gain promotion to or retain their place in League B.
The Cypriot side showed great spirit and composure in what was a crucial match on the road. In the 27th minute, after a free kick from Siakalli and a fumble by the Georgian goalkeeper, Steffi Hardy capitalized from close range to make it 1-0—a lead held into the break.
Just four minutes into the second half, Andri Violari doubled Cyprus' advantage after a well-placed assist from Eirini Michael. Georgia pulled one back in the 54th minute with a direct free kick, but Cyprus held firm to claim all three points.
A fully deserved win for a team that showed grit, tactical discipline, and belief—setting the tone for what promises to be an exciting play-off phase.
